Country Study: Germany

This term we are reading a novel called Refugee, it's about 3 kids from different countries and backgrounds are all trying to find refuge and are about face dangers that no one can compare to. Today I have read about a 12 year old Jewish boy from Germany called Josef. Adolf Hitler's Storm Troopers barged into there flat and took Josef's dad to concentration camp. And after 6 months they got a telegram from their dad saying that he is out of concentration camp, one 1 condition they leave the country within 14 days.

We then had to do a country study of Germany including it's population, currency, cuisine and where it is located. I had much fun with it as I like researching and finding information about different countries and stuff like that.

  1. Hi Arie, I really enjoyed reading through your poster and blog post. You have found so much information about Germany, amazing work! Was there any information you already knew that you've included in your poster? Or was all the information you researched new and unfamiliar to you?

You mentioned having read about Josef today. I wonder if you found out in key information about what Germany was like in 1938? I'm sure it was a lot different to what it is like today.

What would your favourite food be, from the list you've included in your poster? I'm quite a picky eater so I don't think I'd like the egg noodles or the beef roll, but I'd be really interested to try the potato pancake. What do you think the potato pancake would be like?
