1  In a normal landfill, how much room do plastic bags take up?


Since plastic bags are so light they take up less than 1% in a landfill


2  What does- ‘non-renewable resource’, mean?
A non-renewable resource is something that cannot be replaced such as coal or oil we
use as energy such as renewable ones such as wind or solar power is not developed.

3  Why can’t we just burn plastic bags?


If we burnt plastic bags it will release poisonous gas and pollution which causes
Global Warming will make the ice melt and make the sea rise.

4  What is the meaning of ‘photodegradable’?


Photodegradable means such as plastic will slowly break down into smaller pieces with
the help of sunlight.

5  Use the information on the fact page to work out how many plastic bags New Zealanders
use in 1 week.

So 15x4=60+45=105 the average Newland Family use 105 plastic bags each week.
