Decimals Quiz

For Maths we had to make a decimals quiz, but mainly just simple addition with decimals. Like for example whats 34.89 + 19.57? It would be 54.46. The things we needed on our quiz we needed 10 questions with a problem that includes decimals we could use all operations whether it be addition, subtraction, division or multiplication. We then needed to test it on someone and see how many they could get right.

Spelling Results Term 1

One thing that I've done well this term in my spelling is getting my spelling words right and getting 10/10 every week and I'm proud of myself, we have even been learning to spell words in te reo.
One of the things I would like to improve next term is my sentences, and hopefully get into the top 3 for sentences most weeks. And maybe get first. I would be happy if I got that.

Sailing Experience

Little red and yellow sail boats floated across the ocean all kept together with a piece of rope.  They were all being towed by a boat with a motor that rippled across the water. Once we got to a decent spot on the ocean they'd let us go so that we could actually sail. One by one the boats were untied by the rope that kept them together, one would be in charge of the direction would go and the other one was leading the sail and choosing how fast or slow the boat would go. They then emptied rubbish bags of coloured plastic balls and rubber ducks on the surface. The children scurried after to get as much as they could, it was like when a pinata breaks, everyone fights over what had been dropped on to the surface. Once all was collected they would flip your boat and show you how to get it back up. The little red and yellow boats were once again towed and returned to the shallow and pushed back up on the sand.

One of the activities was a thinking puzzle game and a bit of a competition, you would try and make a boat that would fit as much stones as it could possibly could without it sinking. Simply the one that had the most, won. You would have to make a boat made out of tinfoil, put it on the water to see if it could float by itself, and then keep adding as much stones as you could until it's reached it's limit. Try and see among your friends who can fit the most in the tinfoil boats.

I had a good day, my favourite part was sailing and being flipped off the boats because the water was warm.  Although I thought I saw something that looked like a stingray or shark and then turned out it was a sail of someone else's boat. The on land activities were fun.

Goal Setting Term One

1. To work on multiplying and dividing decimals (Stretch Goal) Find out the best way possible to find the answer. Get someone to write or ask questions about the topic and see how many I can get right. I would try and get at least 20min.

2. Build more of a complex vocab (Stretch Goal) Use references ( People that have a better writing skill than me) and try and get ideas for vocab for a type of story. I would try maybe every 2nd week.

3. To be better in my descriptive writing (Strength Goal) I would try and write in my spare time and use references to gain different ideas to use in my writing. I would use 30 minutes at least every second week.

4. Be able to draw more realistically (Home Goal) Give more time to my art in my free time and use references to get better in drawing different body parts.

How To Solve Multi-Digit Multiplication Equations

Today we had to make a poster explaining how to solve multi-digit multiplication equations. I collaborated with Ella and Kylah. You have to break down the equation so it's easier. For example, 86x5 you would first do 80 x 5 then 6 x 5 and then you would get the final answer.

Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein

Who have we chosen and why? by Ella, Arie, Eva and Kylah

WALT: Conduct a study on 2 famous mathematicians

This week we had to research about 2 famous mathematicians. I chose to work collaborative with Eva, Ella and Kylah. We chose to do Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein. Our teacher set up a couple of questions and then we had to research to find out the answer. I thought it was alright.

Blog Activity- Makey Makey

Buy the Makey Makey STEM Pack Classroom Invention Literacy Kit ...
What do you already know about Makey Makey?

I'm not really exactly sure what Makey Makey is, but I think it has to do with something that includes coding.

What are you most excited about learning with coding or robotics?

I am most excited about coding because it has a lot of uses. You use coding to program robots or you use coding to make a video game.

Do you thing this will be an easy or hard task? Why?

I think it will be both, some part may be easy will some will be hard. Somethings people might find easy and other might find hard.
